The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
It may be tempting to repress your feelings after a loss. After all, you need to get on with your life, right? Wrong!
I can’t stress enough how important it is for you to take the time to grieve!
If you ignore, stuff, or deny your feelings now, they will keep coming to the surface in one situation or another for the rest of your life. Our feelings of grief can frighten us—we’re not used to this level of intensity—not comfortable with it.
Some people avoid crying after a loss because they’re afraid that once they start, they won’t be able to stop. But remember, those tears are cathartic- a healing balm.
God promises to be with us when we are walking through grief. He has given us His Holy Spirit to comfort us.
We can only receive comfort when we acknowledge our pain. So let’s take time to grieve our losses, knowing that God is with us.
He has not left us comfortless.
Thank you.
