Whoever Dwells in the Shelter of the Most High

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  Psalm 91:1 (NIV)

I am praying for a hedge of protection around my family and friends (actually for everyone) in Florida as the hurricane approaches them today.  Although I am carefully watching the storm on television from another state … my heart is there.  Chose to “evacuate”, not so much out of fear but more from memories of a similar experience in Florida several years ago.  Okay, I’ll just say it, I’m not crazy about hibernating in my home for days without water or electricity.

Psalm 91 gives us the perfect example of trusting in God’s protection during such a time as this … when a major hurricane is approaching our shore.  Psalm 91:8-11 encourages us with these words, If you say, “the Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.  For He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

Psalm 91:14-16 goes on to say, “Because he loves me, says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him for he acknowledges my name.  He will call on me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.

May your heart be encouraged as you trust God to put a hedge of protection around you and your loved ones today.
