In the Morning

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.  Psalm 143:8 (NIV)

I am in no way a morning person.  I like to wake up leisurely and enjoy a few minutes of what I call “luxurious sleep”.  You know-those moments when we are half awake and still half asleep … in a dreamlike state.

If you’re actually a morning person you probably have no idea what I’m talking about.  But, I do admire your morning energy!

I often tell my husband, who is a very early riser, that he conquers the day before I even get up.  But, I am certainly not a lazy person.  I get a lot done during my day.  I just prefer to ease into it … then I’m good to go!

Although I’m not a morning person, I still want to connect with my Heavenly Father before I start my day.  I want my thoughts to focus on His love.  I want to put my trust in Him and ask for His guidance.

So, in the morning, I have learned to say the words found in Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

The psalmist’s words remind me that I am entrusting my life to a loving God who is in control of every circumstance.  I have found it to be true that a good way to begin every day is to read the Word of God … in the morning!

  1. I feel like you have just described me perfectly too! Wow! Wonderful “word picture” Steph! And I have copied that verse/prayer and taped it to my mirror in our room. First area I go after rising so I will greet the day with HIS WORDS!
    Miss you!
    Much love!
