God’s Gifts To Us

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.  Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)

I am reminded of the gifts God gives His people through those who minister.  It may be a preacher, teacher, counselor, writer, or musician.

It may even be a lay person who reaches out to help a widow repair her home, or one who visits someone who is sick.

As I’ve listened to different preachers on televised programs,  I have noticed similar themes, even though the ministers weren’t connected by any particular denomination.

They were connected by God, by faith in Christ, and by the Bible.  The common thread was God speaking to His children … instructing, helping, purifying, and loving them.

I am thankful God loves us enough to not only provide us a way of salvation through Jesus but to also provide us help in our Christian life.  I am thankful for the lives of those who minister, for their godly example … for their commitment and service.

May we see the gift of God’s love and provision for us through those He has called to minister.  Let’s show them respect and not forget to hold them up in prayer!
