Sometimes the concept of being God’s child gets lost in the shuffle as we live in this world. We forget who we are. When this happens it affects how we live our lives, how we feel about ourselves, and how we treat others.
Our life experiences and the kind of relationship we have with our earthly father can either enhance or skew our perception of our Heavenly Father. But, even negative perceptions can be transformed by God’s grace.
Imagine with me how different a day lived in the presence of a loving Heavenly Father would be compared to the usual “rat race”. What did you come up with? I see a calmer day, a more fulfilling day. I see myself feeling loved and taking time to show love and care to others. I see myself desiring to talk with my Heavenly Father, seeking His direction and help rather than “going it alone” and ending up stressed and exhausted by the end of the day.
As Christians, we “know” we are God’s children but sometimes we just forget what that means. We need the daily reminders God has given us in His Word – reminders that He loves us with a love we don’t always understand. It is greater than any love we have ever known on this earth.
We can choose each day to consciously seek relationship with our Heavenly Father, to bask in His love for us, and allow His love to flow through us to others. It’s not a childish thing to do, it’s what we were created to do. It’s who we are!
Galatians 3:26. For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
1 John 3:1. Therefore behold what manner of love the father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.
