Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 (NKJV)

As followers of Christ, we do not walk in the shadows. We walk in the light of truth, even though our world is filled with the darkness of sin and despair.

All of us see it—the lies, the fear and hopelessness, the anger and violence all around us. Yet, because of Christ, we do not walk in darkness, but in the light of Jesus.

The darkness cannot overcome the light. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 (NIV)

May we remind ourselves of these words as we celebrate Christmas this year.

As believers, let’s choose to embrace peace, hope, and joy as we allow the light of love to shine forth in our lives…illuminating the world.
