The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease.  For His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  Lamentation 3:22-23 NASB

Have you ever had a sleepless night due to worry, or stress, or an unresolved relationship issue?  Most of us have.  Then, upon waking we realize, “It’s a new day – a fresh start!”

I’ve sometimes wondered if God gave us the pause of night and day because He knew, that in all of our human imperfections and missteps, we would need to wake up to “a new day.”  A day of new beginnings, second chances, and forgiveness.  A day of knowing that His lovingkindness, compassion, and faithfulness never cease.  They are new every morning!

This past year has been a challenge for all of us, as one day seemed to roll into the next, with no end in sight.  And yet, God’s Word is clear—He is with us.  His lovingkindness meets us anew each morning, regardless of what the news channels tell us.  His song will be with us in the night, no matter how dark things may seem.

The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; and His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life.  Psalm 42:8
