“It’s quite an exquisite thing to be a Christian—to carry His name.” I had never head it stated like this before, but the missionary’s softly spoken words resonated with me!
Exquisite is a descriptive word, which means extremely beautiful, lovely, or fine. That certainly describes Christ and His relationship with us. His love for us is exquisite. His sacrifice for us, His promises to us, and our walk with Him are nothing short of extremely beautiful.
I say this knowing full well that in this world we will have trouble, but He has overcome the world. I can say this even though we will all face death because He has overcome the grave! How about living our lives with the hope of eternal life before us? How exquisite is that?
During this time in history when Christianity is often misunderstood and our beliefs and values are not regarded in the same way they once were, we can find joy in knowing that it is still a privilege to bear the name of Christ. We don’t have to be ashamed to be a Christian, regardless of how much criticism we face because we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it is an exquisite thing—to be a Christian!
However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
